ER V0.0.3, Stamina Playtest


Hello there.
My plan for this project was to update roughly once a month, but I decided to upload this a bit earlier so I could try to get some feedback on what should be done with the stamina system.  There are a few ways I could take Stamina, depending on how closely I want to follow either Stardew Valley or Slime Rancher.

The core mechanic for stamina is that you can use stamina to sprint and move more quickly, and once you run out you're limited to simply walking at a slower pace.  You can restore it by eating food to run for longer, you could save a stockpile of food for longer sprints, but I'm debating how best to utilize stamina.

At the moment, I have 2 modes for stamina in the game, selectable in the pause menu.  Either you have to return to your base and sleep to restore your stamina, or it drains faster and recovers slowly by not sprinting for a bit.  I'm not certain which is more fun, so I want some more opinions and thoughts on them.

Additions

  • Farmables.  I finished reworking farming and adding new plants using the recently given away Ultimate Farming pack.  The art style's not perfect, but it's the only farming assets I have, and they work perfectly.
  • Elemental Farming.  Throw an elemental onto your crops to water or grow large areas of farmland.
  • Dialogue System.  New event system to discover areas, and then ask Ori for more details about what you discovered.
  • Items.  Redistributed and reworked the crafting system, the first island is now close to a vertical slice.  (Menus need...  totally redone from the ground up again.)
